You know those things that you never think will happen to you? Today I got home from my course and after returning a call to my credit card company, discovered that some total and utter fucker had a fun day out in New York, spending nearly �4000 on a false credit card with my information. They spent nearly �300 in Macy's, bought a computer, some fancy trainers from Footlocker... yeah, all things I'd love to have.
I don't know how this happened, I don't know if I'll be liable for any amount, probably not... but it's this huge sense of violation and outrage - how could this happen to me?
Who knows what other details about me some professional fraudster has written down somewhere? My passport details? My NI number? It makes me feel sick. I'm actually shaking. Maybe I'm over reacting, but seeing a whole credit card statement of someone else's carefree day out shopping with a card bearing my name on it... well, you get the picture.
